Closure Wig v. Frontal Wig

The difference between a closure and a frontal is how much of your hairline is covered by the lace. Closures come in 4"x4", 5"x5" and 6"x6" which covers your front hairline. A frontal is 13"x4" and has lace that goes across the entire hairline. Here are some examples of a closures and a frontal.

Closure v. Frontal Maintenance

If you have never worn a wig before or are new to the world of lace, I highly recommend starting off with a closure wig. Closures are beginner friendly, low maintenance, glueless and last longer.

Frontals allow for more versatility, as it acts as a hairline. However, a frontal is for those who are advanced or has knowledge of how to apply and fix. Frontals are high maintenance, more expensive, weekly maintenance, and sometimes need adhesive or lace glue. With proper care, you can get a few wears with them before needing to replace. Though frontals can be worn glueless, if you sweat a lot this may not be the best option, as touch ups are necessary (fixing the baby hairs, apply mousse, adjusting the elastic band.)

Lace is Lace

Lace closures and frontals are to give the illusion that the hair is growing from you scalp. Lace WILL ALWAYS LOOK LIKE LACE (especially close up). Though there are many ways to help disguise, melt, color the lace; it will never become your skin. The best type of lace to get an realistic look is Transparent or HD (film) lace. * Please note that HD lace is very fragile and can easily rip. HD lace is high maintenance and should not be worn as an everyday wig/unit.

How long can wigs last?

Wigs can last anywhere from 12 months -5 years, this depends on the construction of the unit, quality of the hair, if the hair has been processed (colored/bleached), how often you wear it and how well you take care of the unit. You can extend the life of a custom unit by replacing the lace frontal/closure.

We offer services to wash, rejuvenate retighten wefts and also replace the lace on your unit.

Types of Wig Caps

We currently offer three (3) different type of wig caps:

1. Mesh Dome Cap

2. Adjustable Mesh Cap

3. Mesh Ventilated Cap

All our caps are breathable, however if you sweat a lot we highly recommend an adjustable mesh or ventilated wig cap.

What Measurements Do I Need?

You will need six (6) measurements before ordering a custom wig. These measurements ensure that you will have the perfect fit for your kustom piece. All custom units are made using the measurements provided. You will need your hair to be braided small and flat with a fabric measuring tape to measure the following: 1. Circumference 2. Front to Nape 3. Ear to Ear (forehead) 4. Ear to Ear (over top) 5. Temple to Temple (around the back) 6. Nape of Neck

We use the following wig chart for all our Ready to Ship Units
